Saturday June 17

The Soup and Rolls day was, as always, a gastronomic delight. Thank-you to those who made the delicious soups.
The coffee addicts really enjoyed the coffee delights from "Eddies Liquid Beans" from opening time to the start of the meeting - many hope that he will come again.

As if that wasn't enough fun for the day, our guest speaker Lynn Berry presented a fascinating talk about how knitting garments from childhood let her into the world of textile art. She had a presentation that took us through her journey from scrumble (I want to do that!) to knitting and crocheting coral, gumnut babies, to her current passion, public display which started with knitted daffodils and has led onto the 5000 Poppies (or the 250,000!). An incredible story which is still going - Lynn is organizing more poppies for the celebration of end of WW1 next year. She handed around some patterns for making RSL poppies; which will go up under "Resources" on this blog (its up there now!)
