Our speaker at last Saturday's Guild meeting was Andi from "youpatch". Andi specialises in designing pixellated quilts. Some may already be familiar with her "Audrey" quilt. She ran us through using her website where you can use a picture of your own (or start with one of hers) and play with all the parameters: size of pieces, number of pieces, size of quilt, focus, colour variation, tones - just how much fun can you have without paying a cent! It's only when you have made all your decisions and request a pattern that you need to pay. Check it out at www.youpatch.com
Another of her fascinating projects is mosaics. After working out what you want as a pixellated pattern - email Andi (andi@youpatch.com)that you want a mosaic and she will sent you a pattern which you print off onto some backing fabric. Then the fun begins and you cut and glue your fabrics onto the backing - to make your pixellated mosaic. Her examples were just stunning - I'm sure we can do that! (We are trying to organise a workshop for this next year).
Our next Guild meeting on September 21, is our AGM (but we promise it will be short) and we will also have Irene Blanck from "Focus on Quilts" coming as our Guest Speaker.
